Item#120156322322, beautiful bottle... 6 days left, already over $224. The embossing reads , front - R.PORTNER , WASHINGTON , D.C. - back KEEP THIS BOTTLE ALWAYS STANDING . Club book lists it as rare, with a value of $130-$150. Time to update that one! ;o)

Now it's back down to $81. Hope Mike gets it. Must have been a bid retraction.

Thanks. $332 sounds like a lot, but I'm a sucker for a lady-leg. I'll be bring it to the club picnic.

Beautiful bottle in any case. Can you send a good pic for posting here on the website? The one in the listing wasn't all that good (due to all that stuff in the background)...

I just submitted a picture of it to the Image gallery.

I'm not sure I understand the "KEEP THIS BOTTLE ALWAYS STANDING" embossed on the back. Did people normally store beer bottles on their sides? If so, what was different about this bottle that made it necessary to not store it on it's side?

For anybody who's keeping track:
The best answer I've heard for why this bottle says "KEEP THIS BOTTLE ALWAYS STANDING" on the back came from Andy at our club picnic. He suggested that it might have been due to the beer having some unpleasant tasting sediment, and that the sediment was more likely to stay on the bottom of the bottle if it was stored standing up.
